LAUC-I General Membership Meeting
Monday, 10 April 2000

1. Approval of March 13 minutes.

• No quorum; approval of minutes delayed until next meeting.

• Nominations from the floor will be accepted at May 8 LAUC-I meeting.
• Election Committee chair Palmer has already sent out to LAUC-I membership a first call for nominations detailing the LAUC-I offices and committee slots that are open.

• Wilson distributed AUL candidate interview schedule and a copy of the four questions that will lead off the LAUC-I session with the candidates.
• Wilson reminded everyone to show up.
• Members are free to ask additional questions and follow up questions after the initial four questions have been asked.
• Several members expressed the desire to have a question about the role of candidates vis-à-vis LAUC-I.
• Suggestion made that we give candidates a copy of the LAUC-I introductory statement.
• Need to stress in introduction that LAUC is both local and statewide.
• Can we get into questions how library administration can help LAUC-I to develop a more outward focus (e.g., translating ideas/feedback from professional development activities of librarians that are germane to what we're experienceing at UCI into our ongoing planning processes).
• Professional responsibilities: what are librarians responsible for contributing?; what is the administration's responsibility for fostering an environment in which we can bring that into the library's planning process.
• Mentoring from AULs on librarian involvment on this campus; helping LAUC-I make more of a contribution.
• How will candidates educate themselves as to LAUC-I and the possibilities for using it.
• Incorporating into questions 3 …our growth as librarians as well as encouraging an environment of mentoring.
• Suggested new question 1: (following the LAUC-I introduction) "Given this description of LAUC-I, have you had any experiences with a similar organization and how would you envision engaging with, participating in, and using LAUC-I in your role as AUL."
