7.  Disscussion of the librarian review process.
         Goal:   To identify issues which need to be clarified or resolved
                regarding the review process and procedures.  (RE: Shirley
                Leung's memo of 10/10/97, questions raised at the Review
                meeting 9/23/97, discussion of "Criteria" document).
 
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
 
a.  LAUC-I HIRES STUDENT--STUDENT RESIGNS:  Will Chen was hired as the
new LAUC-I Student Assistant.  He did some work on the LAUC-I homepage,
then had to resign.  We are currently searching for a new student.
 
b.  LAUC-I LAPTOP UPGRADED AND AVAILABLE:  The LAUC-I laptop computer has
been upgraded and reconfigured.  Software installed includes: Word,
Powerpoint, Antivirus, and Netscape.  The memory of the laptop has been
upgraded from 4 megs to 20 megs.  This should allow simultaneous sessions
of Netscape and Word. Thanks to Sam Hui of Systems!  The laptop is
available in the MRC for check-out by LAUC-I members.
 
c.  LAUC-I SPECIAL ELECTION RESULTS:  Forty ballots for the LRC special
 election were returned. The votes are:  Barb Lucas - 29 votes (elected),
Daniel Tsang - 11 votes.  (Submitted by Special Election Committee: Judy
Bube, Carolyn Gottneid, April Love, Angela Yang).
 
d.  BROIDY TO RESEARCH COMMITTEE:  Ellen Broidy has accepted a one-year
appointment as LAUC-I Representative to the Academic Senate Committee on
Research.  She will replace Shirley Leung during her term as Interim
University Librarian.
