Librarian Vacancies @ UCI Living and Working in Orange County What's Happening in Irvine LAUC-I Campus Involvement Professional Activities

Greetings!

On behalf of the Librarian’s Association of the University of California, Irvine (LAUC-I), welcome to “Librarians @ UCI” – a website highlighting professional life at the UC Irvine Libraries. Please take a tour around this site for a glimpse into the activities of our diverse and talented colleagues.

Greeting from University Librarian Gerry Munoff.

Librarians at UC Irvine are generously supported with time and money for professional development – we invite you to see what we’re publishing, presenting and working on through our memberships in library associations. A full list of librarians with online profiles can be found here.

As part of a new program, we use our unexpended professional development funds to underwrite activities that we organize on campus for the broad benefit of the library and the academic community. Our inaugural “Timely Topics” series focused on work-life balance and organizational culture in 2004-05. In 2007-2008, we are looking at library 2.0 technology, leadership and professional development.

LAUC-I is an active division within the Librarians Association of the University of California, a dynamic organization which is “authorized to serve in an advisory capacity to the University on professional and governance matters of concern to all librarians.” Current LAUC-I initiatives include career recruitment and outreach to the library profession.

Southern California is as famous for its freeways as it is for its beautiful beaches. This website includes an interactive map of Orange County by city. See where our librarians actually live in relation to Irvine, and follow the links to learn more about those cities and neighborhoods.

Finally, we do take time for recreation and have compiled some of our favorite activities and links to Orange County attractions.

Enjoy!
