Librarian's Professional Development
In addition to performing their primary job responsibilities,
librarians will also grow professionally. There are many ways in which to do
this, and each librarian meets regularly with her/his supervisor to determine
activities and opportunities appropriate for the librarian’s rank/step, interests, etc.
Many UCI librarians are members of and participate in library
and other professional organizations, such as:
In addition to the conferences of the above organizations, UCI

Mentoring and Orientation
The UCI Libraries and LAUC-I
(Librarians Association of the University of California, Irvine) have been working hard to foster
and "environment of mentoring" here. Mentoring is available to all newly hired librarians.
The
New Employee Orientation Program (NEOP) introduces each newly hired librarian
to the Libraries and prepares him/her for success here.
