Life in Orange County

Things UCI Librarians Like To Do

  • Enjoy Cultural Diversity

Orange County and LA County are home to concentrations of several ethnic groups. As a result, grocery stores, restaurants/eateries, houses of worship, and shops have sprung up to serve their needs.

    • Diverse Populations

Santa Ana – Largest density of Latino/Hispanic in the US.

Westminster/ Garden Grove – Largest population of Vietnamese outside Vietnam with a shopping and business district called "Little Saigon".

Long Beach – Cambodian and African American communities among others.

      Artesia – Indian shopping areas.

LA County - African American, Chinese (Chinatown), Japanese, and Ethiopian("Little Ethiopia") communities among others.

    • Grocery Stores

Asian – Marukai and Mitsuwa in Costa Mesa and two 99 Ranch Markets in Irvine

Persian – Within an easy bus ride from UCI, there's a huge Wholesome Choice.

Chicano/Latino Northgate Markets and El Metate.

    • Southern California Attractions and Activities

UCI Librarians enjoy many aspects to living in Orange County. We want to share with you some of our favorites.
